Top 4 Fail to Find the Net

There is a first time for everything. The saying held true during last weekend's round of matches. The big four did not score a single goal! Amazing!.

Arsenal were the first team to kick off. There were away at Manchester City. After been hammered at their own backyard the previous weekend by a brilliant Martin O'neil's Aston Villa, the gunners fans were hoping that their team could bounce back to winning ways as soon as possible.

This, however, was not to be. The gunners ended losing 0 - 3 to Manchester City. As Arsenal were been thumped by City, Liverpool were also away to Bolton. The reds created many chance after chance. The ever dangerous Stephen Gerrald was looking sharp making his famous runs from midfield. Upfront, Dirk Kuyt was trying hard to add to his tally of the season.

Sadly this was not to be as Benitez watched from the sidelines as chance after chance went begging. After 90 minutes there was nothing to separate the two side as Bolton held on to finish the match 0 - 0.

Chelsea, who kicked off against Newcastle United later in the day, must have been looking forward to pull away from Liverpool with a win. The magpies, however, had other ideas as they worked hard to shut off the blues attacks. The Newcastle defence held strong to see the match end in a barren draw.

Machester United kicked off the same time as Chelsea. With Liverpool falling to extend their lead at the top of the table and with Arsenal beaten, Sir Alex must have been thinking this was the turning point for his team.

The Red Devils were playing Aston Villa; a team which had handed Arsenal a beating at their own backyard. The Villa side was full of confidence and Fergerson was hoping to avoid the fate that befell Arsenal.

United started the match with intent, but Villa proved to be worthy opponents. That match also ended in a barren draw as neither team could find that elusive goal.

It was the first all the top 4 teams had failed to find the back of the net on the same day.
